Streamside Report
Bois Brule
Douglas
04-06-98
Weather: Sunny
Water: High & Murky
Hatches: Little Black Stone
Time: Weekend
Comments: The opening weekend of the lower Brule was, as usual, a mixed bag of success or failure. The area around Highway FF was slow, with few fish taken. However, the water around Co-Op Park and Pine Tree Landing was reported to have quite a bit of action for bright Steelhead in the 16" to 24" size range along with some catches of holdover Lake-Run Browns. The most effective flies were chartreuse yarn flies and Black Stonefly Nymphs. Success in other areas of the river was limited by high water and dark water conditions.
