Comments: My father and I fished friday through sunday on the Cranberry River. Morning fishing was slow, and I saw a few wakes in the river, but I later found out it was Suckers and Red Horse coming up the stream. Water temps were low (39-39.5) so we weren't getting any hits. At about noon I landed an 8 in. rainbow on a prince nymph, but not much else was happening. My father hooked into a beautiful 27 in. female on a yarn fly at about 1:00 and we landed and released her after a few pictures. We lost three more at about 1:30 on yarn flies and that was our action for the day. Saturday was slow for me, I only hooked one fish but lost it and my father ended up hooking 4 and landed 3 of them. They ranged from 24.5 to 27.5 inches. (the 24.5 in fish was a male with no tail!) On sunday, the two of us hooked 6 fish and landed 3 of them. They ranged from 25.5 to 27 inches. It was a great spring for my family, I only landed two steelhead this spring, but after landing 12 l! ast spring, I guess I can have an off year. My father landed 6 this year, and my father, brother, and myself landed 10 in three weekends, so we can't complain. Every one of our fish were hooked and landed on yarn flies. Last year we couldn't get a strike on a yarn fly, and this year that was the only thing that worked.
