Steelhead Report

Kewaunee River

April 13, 1997

Weather: 30's
Water Conditions: 36 degrees
Hatches:none

Comments:Fished the Kewaunee River from sunrise to about 10 am. The river is still high and flowing fast, although the level has dropped. The clarity of the water is pretty good. The steelhead weren't cooperative, although the suckers were sure hungry; I didn't see any steelhead caught by anyone else either. I stopped up at the egg collection station; there were quite a few steelies in the ladder, and the report was that the station has put 1,200 steelhead over the ladder as of 4/7. I would imagine the next couple of weeks are going to be prime.
